A teenager was critically injured in a shooting in Sydney’s southwest.

The 18-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds on Mimosa Rd at Greenacre about 9pm on Thursday, NSW Police said on Friday.

He had been shot twice in the chest on nearby Banksia St, and was driven to the location where emergency services found him.

Paramedics treated the boy in the front seat of the car, before taking him to hospital, where he continues to receive treatment.

He is now in a stable condition, NSW Police said.

Police have now spoken to the driver who moved the victim between the two Greenacre locations, and have seized the car, a Skoda SUV.

Police said they are also now also treating a ute fire in Granville, an hour-and-a-half later, as being linked to the shooting.

Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.

A teenager is in hospital with serious gunshot injuries after being shot in Sydney’s southwest on Thursday night.

Police say they were called to Mimosa St in Greenacre shortly before 9pm after receiving several calls reporting shots fired.

Investigators were told the 18-year-old man had been shot twice in the chest on nearby Banksia St before being driven to Mimosa St, where emergency services found him.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital, where he is now in a stable condition.

Police established crime scenes at both Banksia St and Mimosa St, seizing the Skoda SUV used to transport the injured man for forensic examination. Detectives have also spoken to the driver.

Nearby residents said they heard two gunshots before the vehicle drove a short distance away, where emergency services were contacted.

Just after 3am on Friday, emergency services were called to Celia St in Granville following reports of a car fire.
