In a heart-breaking post shared to social media Mel confessed she was ‘nearing the end’ of her cancer battle after it spread to parts of her brain around Christmas.

Shocked by the news, Celebrity dating expert, Anna shared a snap of her emergency GP appointment and captioned the image: “If this platform can be used for good, I will always try where I can.

“I was reminded this week how precious life is. How fragile our health is and how often I may personally take it for granted.

“Now, I joke about being a hypochondriac (and tbh I can be at times) but in truth I tend to focus on those around me more health wise than myself because I am so used to being in that role.

“This week one of my friends was given the worst news anyone can get and reminded us all that if it doesn’t feel right, get it checked.

“So I’ve listened.

“I’ve had a large cyst ‘down there’ for some time, it’s been checked but not for a long while and it’s been bothering me again.

“I was putting off getting it checked as I’ve been busy. But I realised that was not the advice I give, nor is being given to me.

“So yesterday I rang the GP, they were fantastic and I got an appointment today (I know, incredible!) with their Saturday clinic to get checked.

“Full examination and referral to a gynaecologist done but most importantly fears alleviated that it’s not of concern and is purely cosmetic.

“A few minutes of having an examination (by a male GP who was excellent & very knowledgeable) has been priceless in giving me peace of mind.

“Please please don’t ignore things in your body that feel ‘off’. We’ve all got genitals and no one particularly loves whipping them out for examining, but remember, the docs see willy’s, vag’s, boobs, bums aaaallll the time.

“They give zero s***s whether you’re super clean/shaved/got good undies on. They are there to do their job and look after you.

“From something so horribly cruel happening to one of the bravest people I know, I want to share Mel’s selfless advice to ‘just get it checked because it might just save your life.”

Fans flocked to the comments section including MAFS star Lucinda Light who wrote: “Good work beauty. I’m doing all those checks etc as soon as I get back to Australia.

“Time to tick off all the ‘I’ll do it later’ stuff. Big wake up this last week.”

A fan added: “Thank you for being brave to share your health with us and reminding everyone to take care of ourselves. x”

A second said: “hank you for sharing Anna it’s always so important to get anything checked that doesn’t feel right, we know our bodies better than anyone.”

While a third said: “Wishing you well Anna. Well done for using your platform to encourage us all to take better care of ourselves.”

Married At First Sight expert Mel was diagnosed with colon cancer back in December 2023 after a tumour the size of a lemon was discovered during a scan.

But the Australian TV star has since revealed her “light is starting to fade quickly” as she shared that her cancer has spread to her brain.

The 54-year-old said: “After many tests I was told the cancer had spread to the left side of my brain and, despite subsequent radiotherapy sessions, my oncology team have now told me there is nothing further they can do.

“Hearing those words changes everything. So that’s where I am now.”

Mel announced last month that she was taking a step back from the Australian show to focus on her family and health.

The Australian has been open with fans about her cancer battle and previously told how in 2023 she was initially given the all clear.

But, in late February 2024 during a routine scan, small nodules were discovered on her lungs.

Mel said: “The cancer had metastasised and my world changed again in an instant. Over the past two years, while filming MAFS, I underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and was later told I was eligible for a groundbreaking clinical trial specific to my gene type, due to start in March 2026.

“Once again, my optimism soared that I might beat this thing.”

She continued: “Over Christmas, however, I began experiencing blinding headaches and numbness down my right side. My light is starting to fade — and quickly.”

The star married husband Gareth in 2018 in Bali after meeting on dating website eHarmony.

They welcomed daughter Maddie via IVF in November 2015, and Mel said her family is keeping her going despite the devastating news.

Mel added: “I honestly don’t know how long I have left, but I do know I will fight to my last breath and will be surrounded by the love and support of my people.”
