Prince Harry has been accused of using his children as leverage after reports claimed he wants security reinstated for his family so he can bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children to visit King Charles when Harry is next in the UK. A source in the Sunday Times said Harry needs “an enhanced package of security, so he can stay as long as he wants whenever he wants, and see his father with the children.”

This has not gone down well at the palace, with a source responding that everyone would be “horrified by any suggestion of using the king’s grandchildren as a form of bargaining tool.” Author Tom Sykes of The Royalist, questions if Harry would actually attend a meeting if invited.

He writes: “At first glance, the Sunday Times piece suggests Harry wants to go to Sandringham this summer. But read it carefully and it is actually saying something more conditional.”

The row centres on Harry’s insistence that he cannot safely take Meghan, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet without protection.

The source says: “He’d like an invite to Sandringham. Would he go? It would depend who was there. If the King was to say, ‘Come up and spend some time with the family,’ he’d love that.”

It comes as Omid Scobie’s book Endgame reported that Harry, after being told to leave Frogmore Cottage, said to his father, “Don’t you want to see your grandchildren again?”

They were reportedly told to leave the property by Buckingham Palace in January, 2023, days after Harry published his explosive memoir, Spare.

Harry lost access to publicly funded police security after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.

He has since challenged that decision through the courts and is awaiting the outcome of a fresh review.
