A frantic man rushed to smash the window and threw a projectile to att@:ck a mother holding her 8-month-old baby in broad daylight
A Queensland man is accused of trying to kick in a woman’s car window before allegedly assaulting a young mother as she sat at a pedestrian crossing in an hour-long rampage south of Brisbane.
Police said a 22-year-old woman and her eight-month-old baby were stopped at a pedestrian crossing at a car park on George St in Beenleigh, about 11.30am on Tuesday, when an unknown man approached the car.
He approached the driver’s side door and allegedly attempted to open the car door before verbally abusing the young mother.
He then allegedly threw a bottle through the driver’s side window, hitting the woman.
Neither she or the baby sustained physical injuries, police said.
Less than an hour earlier, the same man is also believed to have approached another woman, pulled over on George St after a minor traffic crash with another car.
The man can be seen approaching the 24-year-old woman before allegedly kicking her driver’s side window and attempting to open the locked door.
After he was unable to get into her car, the man was seen running back to a white ute on the other side of the road and fleeing the scene.
“Following investigations, police charged a 41-year-old Eagleby man with two counts each of wilful damage and attempted enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence,” police said.
He was also charged with common assault and going armed so as to cause fear, amongst other offences.
He was refused police bail and was due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
