Paul defied gravity.

Britain’s Got Talent returned to our screens tonight with the usual mix of hilarious and weird auditions, mixed in with magicians, singers and dancers that managed to impress the judges. However, one act topped them all.
Paul Nunnari, who had travelled from Australia to audtion, shocked judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, KSI and Alesha Dixon with his act. Following shouts of “hit the gold” from the crowd, which almost drowned out the judges’ feedback, Simon hit the coveted Golden Buzzer, sending Paul straight through to the live semi finals.
Paul, who uses a wheelchair, drew gasps from the audience when a set of aerial silks fell from the ceiling, and left them further open mouthed as he climbed them and spun around whilst hanging from them.
As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Paul returned to solid ground, before placing a blindfold over his eyes and climbing the silks again. When he reached the top, he produced a strap, which he put around his neck and swung round and round, finally letting go, with only the strap keeping him attached.

Trying to speak over the thrilled crowd, a stunned KSI said “In the first half, we were impressed, and then you just upped it again? That’s one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Alesha followed with, “I’m actually speechless at this point. You’re really amazing, you’ll inspire millions and millions of people. No excuses right? I love you.”
“I’ve been doing this show a long time,” said Amanda, “and I have never had my pants rocked off as much as that. I mean I actually can’t believe what I saw. You’re so brave as well. So good.”

Last to give his feedback was Simon, who said “Well Paul, look, everything was going great until I saw that. They’re called silks right? I’m not a huge fan,” as the audience booed him. “However, I’ve now changed my mind,” he continued.
“Actually one of the most incredible things, I really do believe, that I’ve ever seen. And you’re so humble, and so nice and so talented and that’s why we have….” Following his dramatic pause, Simon stood up and pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending golden confetti raining down on a speechless Paul.
Speaking afterwards, he said, “Simon’s been around so long, he’s seen so much, and to have him give me the Golden Buzzer was a dream come true, so I’m very happy.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs on ITV and ITVX.
