One of Fox News’ most recognizable faces is Ainsley Earhardt, who has been with the network since 2007, and fills homes weekday mornings as one of the co-hosts of “Fox & Friends.” She also frequently gives viewers an eyeful in her rather short dresses that show a lot of leg. But what counts as one of Ainsley Earhardt’s most inappropriate outfits yet is the purple sheath she wore while promoting her children’s book, and this is a look that will always haunt her.

The offense in question took place on the morning show in October 2024. For the taping, Earhardt wore a short, sleeveless sheath dress with a generous thigh slit. This may not seem out of the norm for Fox News anchors, who are renowned for attempting to channel Barbie with their on-air looks, even though some Fox News anchors occasionally show themselves makeup free. What hit the wrong note is that she was promoting a special edition of her biblically inspired 2022 children’s book, “I’m So Glad You Were Born.” And somehow sex appeal and children’s messaging don’t mesh in many people’s eyes.

While fans commented support on Ainsley Earhardt’s Instagram post about the special edition of her children’s book, one follower was not impressed by her inappropriate outfit: “Bare legs are so tacky, trashy and not lady-like.” While that opinion seems a bit extreme for many circumstances, when promoting something for children, showing an overt amount of skin can be seen as lacking common style sense.

So what would have been a more appropriate choice for the Fox News anchor? Something akin to what she wore on the morning show in March 2025 would’ve been a great start. For this taping, she wore a conservative jacket and flared-leg trousers, with the final outfit looking pulled together but with a modern touch thanks to the pant leg. Dressing with appropriateness in mind doesn’t need to be boring, after all; she can still put her own creative spin on corporate wear by mixing her basics with on-trend patterns and fresh silhouettes.
