She may have a $120 million empire and a voice that echoes through stadiums, but for Carrie Underwood, her proudest titles are simply “Mom” and “Wife.”

From her rise to fame on American Idol to the Grammy-winning heights of her career, Carrie Underwood has never shied away from the spotlight. But behind the glitz and glamor of red carpets, Las Vegas residencies, and stadium tours lies a deeply personal journey of love, heartbreak, miracles, and motherhood.

Together with her husband, retired NHL player Mike Fisher, Underwood is raising two sons, Isaiah and Jacob—her greatest blessings, and the little men who forever changed her world.

Carrie met Mike Fisher in 2008, and from the very beginning, she felt something different.

“I feel like he is the person I was meant to be with,” she once told People. “With him, it was like a good partnership. It was an easy relationship to be in.”

Their whirlwind romance led to an engagement in 2009 and a fairy-tale wedding in 2010. But it wasn’t until five years later that the couple’s life would change in a way no career achievement ever could—with the arrival of their first child.

Isaiah Michael Fisher: The Tour Buddy with a Big Heart

Born on February 27, 2015, Isaiah came into the world in Tennessee—and instantly into the hearts of Carrie’s millions of fans. She announced his birth with a sweet Instagram post showing his tiny hand, writing, “Tiny hands and tiny feet…God has blessed us with an amazing gift!”

As a baby, Isaiah was already hitting the road with his superstar mom. Carrie revealed that he earned the nickname “The Mayor of Catering” while on tour for his outgoing personality and love of people.

“He’s such a people guy,” she told Stephen Colbert. “He’s living the dream!”

In 2020, the then-five-year-old joined Carrie in the studio for a special duet on “Little Drummer Boy,” featured on her Christmas album My Gift. The experience left her in tears—of joy.

“I was laughing, and I was crying,” she told People. “It was just very overwhelming in a good way.”

Isaiah has also shown signs of inheriting his dad’s athletic side, making his “baseball debut” in 2021. Carrie admitted she was “more nervous watching him play than when Mike played hockey.”

And as he grows up, he’s becoming increasingly aware of just how famous his mom really is. In 2022, Carrie shared that Isaiah was beginning to notice when classmates mentioned seeing her on TV. “He’s starting to realize it’s not normal,” she joked.

Carrie and Mike welcomed their second son, Jacob, on January 21, 2019—but his journey into the world was not an easy one.

Before Jacob, Carrie experienced three miscarriages in the span of two years. The emotional toll forced her to confront her own grief and her faith.

“For my body to not be doing something it was ‘supposed to do’ was a tough pill to swallow,” she shared with Women’s Health. “It reminded me I’m not in control of everything.”

The pain ultimately led her to a spiritual reckoning: “I had to get real with God,” she said. “If this isn’t meant to happen, then I need to accept that.”

Then came Jacob—her “little miracle.” When announcing his birth on Instagram, she wrote, “Our hearts are full, our eyes are tired, and our lives are forever changed.”

Carrie later reflected on the emotional path to becoming Jacob’s mom: “We longed for you. We prayed for you. We walked a long, hard road in order to one day hold you.”

Though the age gap between Isaiah and Jacob wasn’t planned, Carrie has come to see it as part of a divine plan. “God has a different plan sometimes,” she told People. “And his is better than ours.”

Life in Tennessee: Raising Boys in the Great Outdoors

Today, Carrie and Mike are raising their sons away from the glare of Hollywood, on a 400-acre property in Franklin, Tennessee. The custom-built home—surrounded by nature—is the perfect place for two little boys to roam, explore, and just be kids.

The 2020 pandemic gave Carrie unexpected time to slow down and connect even more deeply with her sons.

“It’s been really great to just really get to know them and watch them grow—especially Jake,” she said on the Today show. “It’s such a critical time in his life, and I’m never gonna get it back.”

From Stadiums to Storybooks: Carrie’s Favorite Role

Carrie Underwood may be a music icon, but her greatest audience is the one waiting for her at home: two little boys with messy hair, sticky fingers, and hearts full of love for their mama.

She’s walked red carpets, topped charts, and sung in front of millions—but it’s the whispered bedtime prayers, the early morning snuggles, and the miracle of motherhood that she’ll always hold closest.
