THE mega-riches of Formula One mean it is not uncommon for many in the sport to seemingly have more money than sense.

And that is a sentiment which perfectly paints the picture for Michael Schumacher‘s former Ferrari team-mate Eddie Irvine.NINTCHDBPICT000000733080

Irvine, who was the last permanent Brit to drive for the Scuderia before Lewis Hamilton, enjoyed quite the lavish lifestyle.

The Northern Irish racer was a successful businessman before even becoming an F1 driver, which has seen him cultivate a net worth of £100million.

By the age of 27, Irvine already had a sprawling property empire, and now, at the age of 60 has 40 properties in his portfolio.

And his carefree approach to money even left him scratching his head after misplacing his HELICOPTER, not once, but twice.

Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “I lost it twice.

“I parked it and then couldn’t remember where.

“Once, I parked it in a friend’s garden and then forgot where she lived.

“I just drove around until I spotted the rotor blades, which is easier than finding a car in an NCP car park.”

Irvine came within touching distance of an F1 title in 1999, when he won four races.

By 2002 Irvine had retired from F1, but still loved the glamorous lifestyle.

He famously remarked: “I love the parties, the boat, the plane, getting into nightclubs for free, getting tables at restaurants without having to queue, driving a Ferrari and getting the best-looking girls.”
