Lindsay Clancy’s haunting diary entries and internet searches are now being examined in court — and her heartfelt wish to have a big family is making the tragedy even more heartbreaking
DISTURBING diary confessions and sickening internet searches made by Lindsay Clancy have been revealed in court, sharing insight into the months before she strangled her three children.
Lindsay, 36, has pleaded not guilty to three murder charges after she strangled her kids with exercise bands on the night of January 24, 2023.

The former labor and delivery nurse has admitted to the killings, but her attorney is seeking an insanity defense, arguing she was suffering from undiagnosed postpartum psychosis.
Five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan were found in the basement of their Duxbury, Massachusetts home in 2023 with exercise bands around their necks.
Cora and Dawson were pronounced dead at the hospital after first responders administered life-saving measures, and Callan died three days later after being taken off life support.
Since her trial began, testimony has been given by her ex-husband Patrick Clancy, who found the children in the basement, first responders, medical staff who treated Lindsay before the killings, and more healthcare providers who treated Lindsay and the kids afterward.

On Thursday, Timothy Chiappini, who works with the Massachusetts State Police and has specialized training in cellphone forensics, took the stand to reveal information he found on Lindsay’s cellphone.
Chiappini discussed some of the internet searches made on Lindsay’s phone, including one from January 20, 2023, that said, “can you treat a sociopath.”
Lindsay also made searches about psychosis symptoms the day before.
Lindsay’s defense attorney questioned Chiappini on some other searches, including “where is the carotid artery,” and “can you turn air bags off on Kia Sorrento,” the kind of car that she drove.
In the months before the killings, Lindsay saw a psychiatrist, two nurse practitioners and a therapist, was prescribed 13 different psychiatric medications and was hospitalized.
Lindsay also called a crisis hotline twice, but was turned away each time because she didn’t have a plan to act on her suicidal thoughts, according to her defense attorney Kevin Reddington.
Some diary entries of Lindsay’s have been revealed in court, including where she detailed having “horrible thoughts,” almost every day for a week in December 2022.
While on the stand, Chiappini was asked to read several notes written on Lindsay’s phone.

“I’m sad and depressed because I am not able to parent my third child like my first. I want to treat every one of my babies like my first,” Lindsay wrote on October 25, 2022.
“I think I sort of resent my other children because they prevent me from treating Cal like my first baby. And I know that’s not fair to them. I know that.”
Lindsay wrote about how she was “feeling so depressed” the night before she wrote the entry, adding her mood rubbed off on her older kids.
“I want to feel love and connection with all my kids,” she wrote.
In the same message, Lindsay also revealed she wanted more children.
“I’m also probably having a bit of an internal conflict because my whole life I’ve wanted to have a lot of kids.
“I still don’t want Cal to be our last but I have a lot of figuring out to do before I have another.”
During Chiappini’s testimony, Lindsay could be seen taking deep breaths and occasionally covering her face.

Lindsay also expressed worry about starting a new medication, saying “I just want to feel happy. I want to be able to relax and take care of my kids.”
On October 24, 2022, Lindsay wrote out ten affirmations, including “I will get through this,” “I will overcome postpartum anxiety and depression,” “I am a great mom.” “I love my kids,” “I love my life,” and “I am brave.”
Another note was read in court that was created on December 22, 2022 and modified on January 23, 2023, but Chiappini told the court he was not sure what modifications were made.
Lindsay wrote about how she was “the healthiest, happiest mom,” and how she took care of herself to be the best for her kids.
“Until prescription medication stole me from my own body,” she wrote.
In the note, she wrote about how she was “a touch anxious” and got a Zoloft prescription from a psychiatrist.
“It took me weeks to take it but I finally took the plunge,” she wrote before detailing how after her dosage was increased, she had trouble sleeping.
Chiappini was also questioned about text messages and internet searches on Lindsay’s phone on January 24, 2023.
On that morning, Lindsay took Cora to the doctor’s office for a scheduled checkup, where she also told the doctor that her daughter was having stomach troubles.
“Her urine looked good so nothing going wrong with her kidneys, phew,” Lindsay texted her then-husband Patrick.
“Oh wow. You’re a good momma,” he replied.
Chiappini said some of the searches made on Lindsay’s phone on January 24, 2023 included the menu for ThreeV, a local restaurant where Lindsay and Patrick ended up getting takeout from that night.
She also used Apple Maps to search the restaurant and looked up kids MiraLAX before calling a CVS in Kingston to ask if they had any in stock.
Lindsay sent Patrick to pick up the stool softener after their pediatrician recommended it for Cora’s stomach troubles.
When Patrick was called to the stand in the first few days of the murder trial, he recalled returning to an unusually quiet home after going to CVS and ThreeV.

He then found Lindsay on the ground in their backyard after she cut her wrists and neck with a knife from the kitchen and jumped from their bedroom window on the second floor.
Lindsay then told him that the kids were in the basement, he testified.
While first responders tended to Lindsay, Patrick went into the basement to check on the kids, finding them with exercise bands around their necks.
If convicted, Lindsay faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
If she is found to be not criminally responsible for murder, she will be committed to a state mental health facility.
