A large-scale search is underway off the Queensland coast after a cruise ship passenger was reported missing early on Saturday.
Authorities were alerted after a man, believed to be in his 70s, went overboard during the night while the vessel was travelling off Brisbane.
The incident was reported to crew around 2am, prompting an immediate response onboard and notification to emergency services.
Search crews have since been deployed to waters north-east of Moreton Island.

Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the man had been travelling with family, who raised the alarm when he could not be located.
A review of onboard CCTV footage was later conducted.
In a statement, the company said the man “apparently climbed over the safety railing and jumped overboard”.
“The male guest was travelling with family, who alerted the ship’s crew of a possible missing person, and a review of the CCTV footage confirmed the guest’s action,” the spokesperson said.
Authorities were contacted shortly after the incident was confirmed.
