Netflix is currently showcasing a bone-chilling horror series that will ‘leave viewers shaking’.
The popular show consists of just seven episodes, making it ideal for your midweek binge-watch. First appearing on screens in 2021, Midnight Mass quickly ensnared viewers with its uniquely horrifying plot.
The drama centres around Riley Flynn (Zach Gilford), a young man who returns to his small community after serving a prison sentence for killing a woman in a driving accident.
He arrives home just as a mysterious and charismatic priest is rejuvenating the town’s wavering faith. However, the town soon begins to witness strange supernatural occurrences.
The limited series was crafted by horror maestro Mike Flanagan, known for his work on The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep, reports the Mirror.

Fans of The Haunting of Hill House will be delighted to discover that Flanagan’s wife and collaborator, Kate Siegel, also features in Midnight Mass. In this series, she portrays main character Riley’s childhood love interest, Erin Greene.
Other notable cast members include GEN V actor Hamish Linklater in the role of the captivating priest, Father Paul. The acting troupe received overwhelming acclaim when the series debuted, but it was the unsettling storyline that truly left an impression.
Rotten Tomatoes critics have bestowed an impressive 87% rating on the drama, with their consensus exclaiming: “An ambitious meditation on grief and faith that is as gorgeous as it is unsettling, Midnight Mass’s slow boil is a triumph of terror that will leave viewers shaking – and thinking – long after the credits roll.”

Meanwhile, fans on Reddit hailed “Midnight Mass as Netflix’s best horror”. The same Redditor continued: “I know I am going to get tons of hate for this but hear me out. From the beginning to the end, there are hardly any flaws in it.
“The soundtrack, jump scares, character development are up to the mark. And the ending, it’s one of the most beautiful (and hurtful) at the same time. I cried.”
Whilst the reviewer anticipated sparking a debate, others largely concurred. One fan responded: “Honestly yeah, Midnight Mass feels like horror that lingers instead of just surprising you. Definitely one of the better ones on Netflix.”
TikTok users echoed these sentiments, with one enthusiastic viewer sharing: “I sobbed at the last episode. Like fully sobbing, snotting, emotional wreck.”
And another confessed: “I’m on Ep 4 and I’m scared to continue watching.”
