A man has been charged after he allegedly carjacked a woman and later crashed the vehicle on Brisbane’s Story Bridge.

The 31-year-old allegedly stole a black Toyota Yaris from a business on Logan Road in Eight Mile Plains at 11pm on Thursday and crashed the car on MacDonald Street in Kangaroo Point at 3pm yesterday.

Police said the man then allegedly approached a red Toyota Corolla on nearby Main Street, forcibly removed a 43-year-old woman from Mango Hill and took off at 3.10pm yesterday.

The Corolla was allegedly seen driving erratically on the Story Bridge a short time later before the vehicle hit a number of cars and rolled.

The 31-year-old man was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with minor injuries after the crash.

He has since been charged with seven offences including two counts each of unlawful use of a vehicle, driving without a driver’s licence, dangerous operation of a vehicle while affected by an intoxicating substance and one count of armed robbery with personal violence.

He is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
