Prince Harry caused a huge controversy after a statement deemed “STRANGE”… but what really sparked outrage was how it backfired immediately afterwards

Prince Harry was in the UK last week for a series of engagements, which included a quick stop off at the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast studio. While the podcast only aired on Monday, it is believed to have been filmed last week, and saw Harry discuss a range of topics.

This included talks about the Invictus Games, trauma, family and British culture. The podcast chat also saw Harry being asked some quickfire questions, including about what his occupation is. When he was asked this, The Duke of Sussex – who quit royal life in 2020 – said: “Full time dad, British Army veteran, Prince of England, Duke.”

This sparked anger online, as although he technically is a prince, he is not a working member of the Royal Family and therefore does not carry out any royal duty – he just has the titles. He also does not have a title calling him “Prince of England”.

Fans were quick to call Harry up on this, with one person saying: “He left his “occupation” as prince and duke. Now they are vanity titles.”

Another said: “I don’t think he knows the definition of occupation. He doesn’t have a “job” as Prince of England. An occupation is a person’s regular work, profession, or principal activity engaged in to earn a living

Someone else wrote: “There is no such thing as Prince of England???”

Another angry royal fan commented: “I find it very strange that he would say Prince of England. The name England isn’t really used anymore. It is the UK (United Kingdom). Does he not know this?”

After the backlash received by the prince, who is now back home in Montecito, we launched a Daily Express poll asking our readers whether Prince Harry should call ‘Prince of England’ his occupation.

Almost 99% of people who voted in the poll said no, while 0.74% said yes. A total of two respondents said they were not sure.

Harry has not commented on the backlash he has received from the comment made on the podcast, which aired on Monday.
