Georgia GOP Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene says that releasing the files related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein is “common sense” and said President Donald Trump’s resistance to it doesn’t make sense.
“Releasing the Epstein files is the easiest thing in the world,” she said to the news outlet Politico. “Just release it all, let the American people sort through every bit of it, and, you know, support the victims. That’s just like the most common sense, easiest thing in the world. But to spend any effort trying to stop it makes — it just doesn’t make sense to me.”
Greene is one of the four Republicans who supports Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie’s discharge petition to release the Epstein files.
The House is set to vote on releasing the Epstein files next week due to the discharge petition now having 218 signatures.
On Friday, Trump announced that he would be asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to launch an investigation into Epstein’s ties with former President Bill Clinton and other major figures.
“This is another Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, with all arrows pointing to the Democrats,” Trump’s TRUTH post reads. “Records show that these men, and many others, spent large portions of their life with Epstein, and on his “Island.” Stay tuned!!!”
Epstein died in prison in August 2019 as he was waiting for a trial on sex trafficking charges of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.
Earlier this week, Trump said that Greene has “lost her way” after she said that president hadn’t focused enough on the cost of living.
“I don’t know what happened to Marjorie — nice woman. She’s lost her way, I think,” Trump said.
