“I was so sad.”

Dani Dyer has given an update on a possible return to Strictly Come Dancing after being forced to pull out of the last season. The Love Island winner exited the 2025 edition of Strictly following the launch show after fracturing her ankle, with Amber Davies subsequently stepping in to replace her.

Dani has now said she would “love to do it again” if given the opportunity for another go, while expressing her sorrow that she couldn’t compete.

“If they rang me, I’d answer the phone,” the star says on this weekend’s The Jonathan Ross Show. “I was devastated. It was hell for me when I hurt my foot, I was so sad.”

Upon her original withdrawal, Dani explained that she suffered a fall in rehearsals, where her foot quickly swelled, with an MRI scan subsequently revealing a fracture.

“Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable (!!) and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance so l’ve had to pull out of the show,” she added in her statement at the time.

“To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement. I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita [Kuzmin] but will of course be watching closely and cheering all the couples on.”

Nikita was subsequently paired with fellow Love Island winner Amber, who went on to make the final and finished as runners-up alongside George Clarke and Alexis Warr, with Karen Carney and Carlos Gu taking the crown.

Dani previously expressed hope of a comeback, while also reflecting on the “pure devastation” of her withdrawal from the competition.

“I knew if someone said to me, ‘Are you okay, Dani?’, I’d just cry,” she said on the Live and Let Dyers podcast. “Everyone is so kind and lovely and I could probably stand in the street and cry. For me, mentally, it’s just been really testing my mental health.”

However, Dani has had some positive reality TV news in recent months, with the star emerging victorious on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in January.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
