Alex Cullen‘s wife has weighed in on the drama surrounding Today sports reporter Danika Mason.
In January 2025, Cullen was fired from the Today show after he accepted $50,000 from The Block billionaire Adrian Portelli for referring to him as ‘McLaren Man’ on-air, which was a breach of the network’s ‘cash for comment’ code of conduct.
Last week Mason, 34, issued an on-air apology on Today after she slurred and stumbled her way through a cross from the Winter Olympics in Italy.
On Monday, Alex’s wife Bonnie let her thoughts be known on the Mason drama after one of her friends shared a post to social media, writing, ‘Well they sacked Alex Cullen for less.’
Bonnie, who is a luxury property reporter for Channel Nine, pointedly expressed her agreement with the post, writing ‘100%’.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is among several fans who have rallied around Danika after she admitted to drinking before a live cross on the Today show last week.

Speaking on Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren on Thursday morning, Albanese admitted he was on Danika’s side.
‘I’m pro Danika! Good on her! She’s over in Italy… and she would have been tired,’ he told hosts Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips.
‘It’s the time difference – would have been having an impact.’
Jase added, ‘She’s celebrating!’ while Albanese replied, ‘Nothing to see here.’
Danika offered an on-air apology on Thursday for the state she had been in during her now-infamous slurring live cross, admitting she had been drinking.
‘And guys, just before we do go, I just want to take a moment if that’s okay, just to apologise,’ she said at the end of her live cross on Thursday.
‘I also wanted to say thank you for everyone who has reached out. I’m okay. Probably just a little bit embarrassed.
‘Look, I totally misjudged a situation. I shouldn’t have had a drink. And especially in these conditions.

‘It’s cold. We’ve got altitude. And not having had dinner probably didn’t help as well. But I want to take full responsibility. It’s not the standard that I set for myself.
‘So in saying that, I am genuinely sorry.’
Viewers have since taken to social media to praise the journalist following the on-air mishap.
‘She owned it and fronted up. A quality presenter and reporter,’ one fan said on Facebook.
‘Good on her for being an Aussie and having a drink,’ said another.
