Princess Eugenie has been spotted in many fashion-forward outfits over the years.

She turned heads on a recent visit to the Tate Modern for the 25th Anniversary Fundraising Gala, wearing a breezy white linen peplum dress by Self-Portrait – a favourite label of many royals.

Some eagle-eyed royal observers have pointed out similarities between Eugenie and Meghan Markle’s style staples.

At Royal Ascot last month, Eugenie stepped out in two show-stopping looks.

On day four, she wore a coffee and cream coloured two-piece skirt and top and a wide-brimmed white hat.

Eugenie’s beige top, last seen in 2015, worn over a white dress, brought to mind the Ralph Lauren tan suit Meghan wore at the Time100 summit, featuring a two-button blazer with strong shoulders and a pair of ultra-wide-legged trousers.

Commenting on this, the Instagram account Royal Fashion Daily wrote: ‘It’s European summer, a season where royals usually embrace florals, pastels and classic English countryside styling.

‘But Princess Eugenie seems to be taking a different approach, one that feels unmistakably Californian.

‘At public engagements, from Royal Ascot to more casual daytime visits, she’s shifted towards a wardrobe of earthy, neutral tones – olive, taupe, cream and sand.

‘The palette calls to mind Meghan’s now-iconic “50 shades of beige,” a soft, minimalist style that became her signature from her Sussex days through to her life on the west coast.

‘Eugenie’s leaning into a quieter kind of elegance, one that prioritises ease and polish over ornament.

‘It’s a style that Meghan has long championed: clean lines, refined cuts and a sense of quiet confidence.’

On day five of Ascot, Eugenie wore a chilli-red Whistles dress, which she paired with  a matching Emily London Newmarket Hat

Meghan has previously been seen wearing a similar poppy red Carolina Herrera gown in 2021, which she re-wore last year at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala.

At the Buckingham Palace Garden Party earlier this year, Eugenie was photographed in a navy short-sleeved dress with white polka dots by Rixo.

This bore a resemblance to the Carolina Herrera polka dot shirt dress Meghan was seen wearing on her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

Polka dots are a popular and recurring fashion choice for the Royal Family, with both Kate Middleton and Princess Diana favouring the pattern.

Over the years, both Eugenie and Meghan have been spotted wearing designs from Rebecca Vallance, Aquazzura and Notting Hill premium jeweller Sophie Lis.

For the Chelsea Flower Show, Eugenie wore a Rebecca Vallance floral dress and a pair of Sophie Lis’s playful mushroom earrings.

Meghan was spotted wearing a Sophie Lis Love Pendant in her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan — a piece she first wore in 2020 and has brought out multiple times since.

While celebrating the US holiday, Fourth of July, the Duchess of Sussex wore a blue and white floral skirt and top co-ord from Brazilian brand Farm Rio.

Eugenie took a leaf out of Meghan’s style book and wore a blue and white orchid midi dress by Rebecca Vallance at the opening day of the Chelsea Flower Show.

She later re-wore the backless dress at the UN Ocean Conference, and the frock made another appearance in an Instagram post by Eugenie last week, wishing Beatrice a happy birthday.

Once again embracing colour, the two women have both worn remarkably similar emerald dresses with Grecian-inspired draping.

The Duchess of Sussex wore an emerald green Emilia Wickstead ensemble for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, which marked her final engagement as a senior royal in March 2020.

The choice of green was seen by some as symbolic of new beginnings, hope, and nature, aligning with her transition away from official royal duties.

Eugenie wore a silk emerald cape dress by Fendi for Vogue World at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane for London Fashion Week 2023.

The red carpet event marked her first public appearance since giving birth, and the dress was from Fendi’s Fall 2023 Couture collection.

But Eugenie, along with her sister Beatrice, has not always been praised for her fashion.

The early noughties saw both Eugenie and Beatrice leaning into the trends at the time, which featured baggy dress shirts teamed with skinny jeans, chunky statement belts and extreme side fringes.

Now, Prince Andrew’s two children have emerged as among The Firm’s best dressed, and always reliably well regarded to be the picture of elegance.

Speaking to The Mail in November, celebrity stylist Alex Longmore said Eugenie has a ‘newfound fashion confidence’, which he believes is down to her now being a mother and ‘how satisfied she is in the role of mum to two boys’.

‘Her outfit choices have evolved hugely in the last few years, favouring block colours over the tawdry floral prints of the past. She has also learnt what styles work with her figure,’ she explained.

Stylist Charlie Anderson was enlisted to dress Eugenie and her sister in 2011, sharing her fashion expertise with the siblings.

Charlie has said that both girls were ‘a delight to work with’ and that Eugenie, in particular, was open to new ideas.

‘Eugenie knew herself very well but was also willing to listen and try what I proposed,’ she explained.

Andrew’s youngest daughter has certainly elevated her style, incorporating some aspects from other royals, such as Meghan Markle.

However, she puts her own unique spin on them – even if that means adapting them to the inclement British weather!
