Longtime Hollywood manager Barbara Lawrence has died aged 82. A spokesperson confirmed the news, stating that she died of natural causes on January 2.

Lawrence was reportedly on holiday in Manhattan with her family when she passed. She began working in agencies in the 1970s. The agent spent decades guiding and supporting actors and creatives in Hollywood and television, becoming a pivotal figure behind the scenes of several notable careers. Some of her star-studded clients included Avengers star Chris Evans, Rue McClanahan, the Emmy-winning actress famed for her role as Blanche Devereaux on the hit sitcom The Golden Girls, and Alan Rachins, who was known for his work on L.A. Law and Dharma & Greg.

When McClanahan died in June 2010, it was Lawrence who informed the press of her death.

Lawrence began her prestigious career at the Abrams-Rubaloff Agency, where she met her future husband, Richard Lawrence, who she married in 1972.

Before meeting Richard, she was married from 1967 to 1970 to actor Dennis Cooney. Through him, she became friends with Liza Minnelli and Fred Ebb.

Barbara left Abrams-Rubaloff and took over Richard’s management firm, renamed Rebel Entertainment Partners in 2004.
She eventually joined the management outfit Ensemble Entertainment and retired in the early 2000s.
Her family has a deep-rooted connection to the entertainment industry. Her husband continued to work as an industry agent, later landing a job at Rebel Entertainment Partners. He is also a former board member of the Association of Talent Agents.

Their eldest son, Seth Lawrence, is an agent with Independent Artist Group. He is married to Denise Draper – a manager at Range Media Partners.

Her younger son, Evan Lawrence, works as an Account Executive at Upstaging, Inc – a company specialising in concert touring and event production.

Lawrence’s family and friends came together to celebrate her life this past weekend on what would have been Lawrence’s 83rd birthday at the Casaléna restaurant in Woodland Hills.
