Prince Harry has given a candid four-word update on his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, this week. While the Duke of Sussex makes a lot fewer public appearances since moving to California five years ago than when he lived in the UK, he did surprise royal fans this week by appearing on the Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know podcast.

On the podcast, Harry, 41, spoke about a number of things, including social media, his love of America, and whether or not he wants US citizenship. He also spoke about what life is like as a working dad.

While he admitted his children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, do not know the “background” behind his charity work – a suggestion they may not know about his royal roots – he did speak about how they get eagerly involved in his work calls.

Talking about what happens when he’s on a call in the office at him and Meghan Markle’s Montecito home, Harry gave a four-word comment on what his children do: “They just barge in.”

He then went on to say: “All they’re (Archie and Lilibet) interested in is saying hi to the people on the call.

“Or they’re fascinated to see other people. They love seeing familiar faces. They will run in and kind of, occasionally, there’s the moment with the hand on the forehead, saying, ‘Not now’.”

The prince continued: “But then they just jump on the lap and say, ‘Hi guys!’ ”

Both Harry and Meghan have only given members of the public snippets of information about their children over the years, with the couple reportedly determined to give them as much privacy as possible.

They have also only shared very few photographs of their children, taking care not to show their faces – until a social media blunder by Meghan at the weekend.

This desire not to show their children’s faces is believed to be something the couple do out of safety fears, with Harry having also expressed concern on the podcast about the dangers of posting photographs of children online. While Meghan, 44, does share photographs of the couple’s children on her Instagram account, she tends to cover up their faces or only show fans the backs of their heads.
