A man has been charged after police tracked an alleged six-hour knifepoint carjacking spree where the 35-year-old is accused holding more than a dozen drivers at knifepoint as he tried to steal one car after another.

Police allege the 35-year-old man threatened a woman with a knife during the theft of a blue BMW coupe from a home in Chelmer, Brisbane, about 8am on Wednesday.

“The woman was not physically injured during the incident,” Queensland Police Service (QPS) said.

The stolen BMW was spotted on Kittyhawk Dr in Chermside about 1.45pm, where police allege the driver got out and stole a white Audi A1.

The driver of the Audi, a 67-year-old man, was injured during the incident and taken to hospital in a stable condition after allegedly being dragged along the road.

PolAir tracked the Audi travelling at speed through Chermside and Stafford, with police alleging the driver crossed onto the wrong side of Gympie Rd during the pursuit.

During the chase, the man allegedly attempted to steal at least five more vehicles at knife point.

The Spring Hill man was arrested about 1.52pm near the intersection of South Pine Rd and Farrington St at Alderley while allegedly attempting to steal another vehicle.

He has since been charged with multiple offences including armed robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle.

The man has also been charged with contravening a domestic violence order and is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
