A Mexico-based volunteer group was reportedly told that Nancy was buried at a site near the U.S. border where 25 graves were previously discovered.

Volunteers in Mexico conducted a search for Nancy Guthrie after receiving a tip claiming that she was buried near the U.S.-Mexico border, PEOPLE confirms.

Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother was last seen entering the garage of her Tucson, Ariz., home at 9:50 p.m. local time on Saturday, Jan. 31. Her family reported her missing at 12:03 p.m. on Feb. 1, after she failed to show up to watch a virtual church service with a group of friends. In the months since, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) and the FBI have led an extensive search to find Nancy, although no suspects have been named in her disappearance.

The Mexico-based volunteer group Buscando Corazones Nogales, which translates to “Looking for Hearts,” has now received an anonymous tip about her alleged whereabouts, the group tells PEOPLE.

The group’s leader, Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, told local outlet El Imparcial on Thursday, June 11, that the organization was told that Nancy was buried in one of the streams in the area of Mariposa, Mexico. The tipster reportedly told the organization that her remains could be located near Nogales, which sits close to the Mexico side of the U.S.-Mexico border, 12 News reported.

In a message to PEOPLE, the organization wrote, “In May, the tip was received. The anonymous source said she is here. Yes, we will continue searching.”

Buscando Corazones Nogales reportedly began the search around the stream on May 16 and found nothing. Then, they received a second call with additional information, spurring the group to conduct a second search on Wednesday, June 10.

The search was unsuccessful, and a third is planned for June 16, according to 12 News.

Volunteers have searched the region previously, and between April and May recovered the remains of 32 people and found over 25 unmarked graves, El Imparcial reported.

On Thursday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos issued a statement on X confirming the agency is aware of the anonymous tip. “At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities,” the statement read.

“This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information,” Nanos’ statement concluded.

An FBI Phoenix spokesperson told PEOPLE that the agency did not have an update when reached for comment. “The investigation remains ongoing,” the spokesperson said.
