SOME LOSSES NEVER STOP HURTING! MEL SCHILLING’S HUSBAND BREAKS HEARTS WITH NEW TRIBUTE FOUR MONTHS AFTER HER PASSING.
‘Best possible place’: Mel Schilling’s husband posts heartwarming tribute to late wife four months after her death
The late reality star’s husband has marked their wedding anniversary with some beautiful words about his new life with their daughter in Bali.
Mel Schilling’s husband, Gareth Brisbane, has penned a heartwarming tribute to his late wife four months on from her passing.
The engineering executive took to social media to share a loving snap from their wedding day and some beautiful words on what would’ve been their eight wedding anniversary.
“Ah my one. Hard to reconcile that the anniversary of the happiest day of my life could become one of the saddest. We didn’t quite make 8 years married or 15 years together but what a love and what a life we had!” he wrote on Instagram.
“By the end of our first date I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you and my love for you burned ever brighter, even as your own light faded.”

The Married At First Sight star’s widower and father to their 11-year-old daughter, Maddie, also took a moment to give her followers a glimpse into how life has been since her passing in late March.
“Sleep easy my girl,” he continued. “I hope you know that Maddie and I are in the best possible place to continue healing. She is every inch your daughter and you would be so proud of the remarkable young woman she is becoming.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
The post comes four months after Schilling lost her courageous battle with colon cancer and after Brisbane bravely shared with her fans that he and their daughter would be relocating from the UK to Bali to help heal from their terrible loss.
“Last weekend we scattered some of Mels ashes at the lighthouse in my hometown of Whitehead, Northern Ireland as was her wish. It’s a special place that really resonated with her, a place where strangers say hello as you pass, and a place we can now come back to reflect on our incredible 15 years together,” he shared at the time.
“In a few short weeks Maddie and I will be welcomed back into the arms of mother Bali where we will begin our next chapter. No better place to heal, a place that we all loved and where we still have some of our dearest friends who had the most wonderful blessing ceremony for Mel at our new villa last weekend.”
Just weeks before her passing, Mel shared the heartbreaking news that her colon cancer had spread to her brain, with no further treatment possible.
“Unfortunately, in late February 2024 during a routine scan, small nodules were discovered in my lungs. The cancer had metastasised and my world changed again in an instant,” she shared at the time, listing “blinding headaches” and “numbness” on her right side as the reason for further investigation.

“At the outset of this journey, so many of you sent the most wonderful messages of support. They have meant more than I can ever properly express and have helped shape the mindset I’ve needed to keep fighting,” she added.
