A HORRIFIC SCENE UNFOLDED IN PERTH’S SOUTH-EAST..! – A MOTHER WAS FOUND D*AD, HER SISTER WAS LEFT SERIOUSLY INJURED, AND A 16-YEAR-OLD HAS NOW BEEN CHARGED FOLLOWING A SHOCKING INCIDENT THAT HAS STUNNED THE COMMUNITY.
Police say a teenage boy is suspected to have stabbed his mother to death and seriously injured his 12-year-old sister in an alleged family violence homicide.
The 16-year-old boy is in police custody and was arrested this morning at a home in Cannington, in Perth’s south eastern suburbs.
Two crime scenes have been established after the 35-year old woman’s body was found in the house around 6.25am and the child was found injured 500 metres away in a neighbouring street.

WA Police Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo said the teen was in police custody and there was no ongoing risk to the wider community.
“A 16-year-old male who is the son of the deceased female and the brother of the injured girl has been taken into police custody,” she said.
“While the investigation remains in its early stages, police are investigating this as a suspected family violence homicide and homicide squad have carriage.”
‘Significant impact’
Inspector Securo said the 12-year-old girl was still receiving treatment in hospital.
“The girl was provided with emergency first aid and taken to hospital, where she remains and is receiving medical treatment,” she said.

She said investigators would examine all available evidence and speak with relevant witnesses.
“This incident will have a significant impact on the family, friends and loved ones of all those involved, as well as the broader community,” she said.
“Recognising the confronting nature of this investigation, WA Police health and welfare support services are in place for all officers involved in the response.”
The incident brought traffic in the area to a standstill, with Albany Highway closed north of the Westfield Carousel shopping centre.

The crime scene sits in a largely commercial area of the suburb, with businesses lining either side of the street.
Workers from nearby stores told the ABC they had spoken with authorities, with police attending businesses in search of CCTV footage of the incident.
Police are expected to hold a press conference about the incident at 11:30am.
Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti said there was no threat to the wider public.
“Our thoughts are with the first responders as it was a horrific scene,” she said.
“But as I understand there’s no ongoing security issues or safety issues for the public.”
