Reese Witherspoon is setting the record straight when it comes to Jennifer Aniston’s love life, especially as it relates to one of her most famous exes: Brad Pitt. The two actors tied the knot in 2000, which just so happens to be the year that Aniston met Witherspoon on the set of Friends. They later divorced in 2005.

“She’s not who people think she is—like, holding onto old things,” Witherspoon said of Aniston during an interview with Dax Shepard on his “Armchair Expert” podcast. “She’s not holding onto old things.”

Shepard then said the quiet part out loud: “She’s not pining for Brad Pitt.”

Witherspoon agreed, adding, “And by the way, at her 50th birthday—one of the biggest testaments I can say to what a wonderful person she is—people from her teenage years, people from her 20s, people who work in her home, every ex-husband, ex-boyfriend was there.”

“She just is a high spiritual-integrity person,” the Sweet Home Alabama actress concluded.

Aniston, for her part, has spoken sparingly about her and Pitt’s breakup over the years. This past August, she made a rare comment during her cover story interview with Vanity Fair.

“I haven’t looked at that article in forever,” Aniston said, remembering a 2005 article titled, “The Unsinkable Jennifer Aniston.” “I just remember the experience of doing it—which was kind of jarring. It was also such a vulnerable time. But yeah, that was one for the memoirs.”

As for Aniston and Witherspoon, the two women currently co-star as news anchors on The Morning Show, which has earned 27 Emmy Award nominations to date. The series was renewed for a fifth season on September 16 of this year, just one day prior to the premiere of season four.

“It’s jam-packed full of exploring AI, deep fakes, who can you trust, who’s telling the truth, betrayal, heartbreak—severe heartbreak—and friendship,” Aniston told Today of the new season.
