Fans say the sitcom has not aged and can be enjoyed in one sitting.

A series dubbed as ‘one of the best comedies of all time’ that is ‘better than The Office’ is finally back streaming on Netflix. All episodes of 30 Rock are now included in the streamer’s extensive library as of today (May 1).

The show originally ran back in 2006 until 2013, picking up multiple awards during that time including 16 Emmys. Created by Tina Fey, the series was largely inspired by her time as a head writer on Saturday Night Live. Running for seven seasons in total, one episode was even broadcast live at the time, in a nod to its origins.

30 Rock follows the antics of Liz Lemon, played by Fey, the creator and head writer for a sketch show based out of New York. We join her as she deals with the complicated fallout of new network executive forcing her show to hire a troubled movie star as its new cast member.

This throws the former and neurotic leading lady, as well as Liz’s best friend, Jenna, into a near meltdown. Liz has to juggle all the egos surrounding her in and outside her writer’s room, while trying to chase her own dream and put on a TV show every week.

30 Rock boasts an all-star cast, including some playing breakout roles on the show. Alongside Fey, was Jane Krakowski as Jenna Maroney, Jack McBrayer as Kenneth Ellen Parcell, Tracy Morgan as Tracy Jordan, and Alec Baldwin as executive Jack Donaghy.

It was only recently that a critic for Screen Rant asked: “30 Rock is one of the funniest shows in the history of television, so why haven’t more people seen it?” They went on to call it an ‘underrated comedy masterpiece’.

They also weighed up its merits and compared it to other workplace comedies such as The Office. They argued that it could be considered ‘better’ than that show, with smart observations and each episode jam-packed with various style of jokes.

However, they suggest that the vast majority of audiences think of The Office first, especially in the realm of workplace sitcom. That is because an office is just more commonplace and relatable. While 30 Rock’s level of satire is both painfully accurate and hilarious, it relates to the workings of TV production and the inner workings of broadcasting. The average viewer just knows less about this subject matter.

However, that doesn’t mean that people should not give 30 Rock a go now. It’s still just as funny as it was when originally aired.

So many fans agree, such as one person who simply shared online: “One of the best sitcoms of the century. Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin are powerhouses.” And another added: “A true joy that you can watch in one sitting.”

While someone else said: “One of the best comedies ever! Deserves repeat viewings! Everyone should experience it! Masterpiece! Amazing cast and production quality!”

Sharing a similar view, one person commented: “One of the funniest TV comedies in TV history The writing is impeccable, quick, and smart.. The smartest written television comedy of our generation. Re-watchable beyond belief, and consistently funny with each viewing.”

If you’re worrying you won’t enjoy it after all the time passed since it first debuted, one person tried to reassure others. They posted: “Decided to watch this again in 2025 – every episode. I don’t laugh at just anything and this show is still as funny as ever.

“It hasn’t aged noticeably which surprised me by 2025. The writing for this show was almost on Seinfeldian level and sometimes ever topped it. I watched with captions on because that’s the only way I could catch every joke.”
