The father of Anna Kepner described the moment he first saw his daughter’s body after she was allegedly killed aboard a Carnival cruise ship.
Christopher Kepner said that he was one of the first people in the stateroom Anna was sharing with her half-brother and the stepbrother now accused of killing the 18-year-old high school senior in an interview with the Daily Mail. The half-brother has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
“I checked her pulse. I pulled her out from under the bed,” Christopher said. “I knew my daughter was dead long before the medical examiner got there.”

Christopher also told the Daily Mail that his stepson has at no point admitted to or taken responsibility for Anna’s murder.
“He’s still saying that he can’t remember and that’s about it. He hasn’t apologized. He hasn’t shown any remorse for anything,” he said.
Christopher and his wife Shauntel, who is also the mother of T.H., have both said that they cut all ties with the 16-year-old after Anna’s death.
T.H., who had been living in the same home as Christopher, Shauntel and Anna, was sent to live with a family member shortly after returning from the cruise, and remains there while on pretrial release.
He was first taken into custody in early February, at which time he was arraigned as a minor on charges of murder and aggravated sexual assault.
A grand jury then indicted him on those same charges, which were then refiled so that T.H. could be charged as an adult.
As a result, he is now facing the possibility of two life sentences if convicted of both crimes.
The grand jury wrote in the superseding indictment that T.H. “did knowingly and unlawfully perpetrate” the “willful, deliberate, malicious and premeditated killing of [Kepner] with malice afterthought.”
Further, the grand jury states that this occurred during the “perpetration” of an “aggravated sexual abuse.”

At the time of Kepner’s death on Nov. 6, 2025, she was sharing a room with her stepbrother and 14-year-old half-brother during a family vacation on Carnival Cruise Line’s Horizon.
The public defender representing T.H. entered a not guilty plea on his client’s behalf in court last month and his trial is set to begin on June 1.
Judge Beth Bloom said in an order obtained by PEOPLE that she expects the trial to last two weeks, ending on June 12.
Christopher said that he already has plans for the next day, which include creating a butterfly garden for his late daughter.
“We are celebrating Anna by keeping it all about her and doing the things she liked,” he said of the family’s plans for June 13.
“We want to remember Anna how she lived — and not how she died.”
