FORENSICS cops are continuing to investigate the scene where a newborn baby girl was found dead.

Pictures show officers in white suits combing the area around a property in Sheffield as the major murder probe continues.

It comes after cops were called to a flat in the Wincobank area at around 5.58am on Sunday following concerns for the baby’s safety.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the newborn was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is not yet clear whether all seven were living at the property or what their relationship was to the baby girl.

The investigation is centred on a property in Holywell Heights, where a major police presence was put in place.

Officers remained at the scene on Monday as detectives continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tot’s death.

The baby’s cause of death remains unknown.

Police have urged people not to speculate while detectives work to establish exactly what happened.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Emma Knight said: “We have a dedicated team of detectives and officers hard at work to ensure justice is secured for the baby girl at the heart of this investigation.

“As part of our investigation seven people have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

“All of them remain in police custody at this time.

“Our investigation is in its early stages and we would like to remind people to avoid speculating about this incident.”
