Meghan Markle reportedly made a “good” decision not to make public appearances in the UK earlier this month, a brand and culture expert has said. Just weeks ago, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, visited Britain with their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five.
While Harry was in the UK for almost a week, carrying out public engagements and being spotted by the public, this wasn’t the case for his wife and children. This is because they flew into Britain later in the week for private family time only. Some people were disappointed by this, as Meghan was initially expected to make some public appearances, but plans changed after it was revealed that the family would not receive taxpayer-funded armed police protection.
Although some people would have liked to see Meghan conduct public engagements in the UK, one brand and culture expert believes the fact that she didn’t was a good thing.
This is because it stopped her from being open to “ridicule”, expert Nick Ede said.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Express, Ede said: “I think it’s actually a good thing that she isn’t making big appearances and keeping a low profile works really well for the two of them.
“It stops them being scrutinised relentlessly and also allows her to build her reputation and life back, rather than attend big events where she can be open for ridicule.”

While Meghan did not carry out any public-facing appearances during her short time in the UK this month – which marked her first return to her husband’s home country since 2022 – the duchess did join her husband and children for private engagements.
This included a reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove.
The family also reportedly spent time with Harry’s uncle, Earl Charles Spencer, at Althorp House – the ancestral home of Harry’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
No photographs have been shared by the family of these moments.
