A woman is fighting for life after falling about 20 metres while rock climbing at a popular mountain in Queensland’s Scenic Rim.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was rock climbing with a group when she plunged about 20 metres, suffering significant head and arm injuries.

Rescue firefighters reached the woman shortly after 11.30am before specialist crews attempted to winch her from the mountain.

But the dense bushland made an aerial rescue impossible.

Paramedics carried the woman out to a waiting ambulance, which transported her to Boonah Airfield. 9News
