A woman walking her dog has died after being struck by a rolling car on a rural road, as locals raise fresh concerns about speeding in the area.
Emergency services were called to O’Keefe Rd at Mothar Mountain, east of Gympie, shortly after 7am on Tuesday following reports of a serious crash.
Police said a blue Honda Jazz was travelling along a bend in the 70km/h zone when it rolled and struck a female pedestrian on the roadside.
The vehicle came to rest on its roof.
Members of the public performed CPR, but the Mothar Mountain woman could not be saved.

Her dog, a dachshund, also suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local vet.
The driver and sole occupant of the hatchback, a 23-year-old Southside woman, suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
Locals say the tragedy highlights ongoing safety issues on the windy and tree-lined stretch of road, with some claiming drivers frequently ignore speed limits.
“People drive far too fast on this road,” one resident said online.
Another said she had seen a P-plater speeding through the area just a day earlier, adding pedestrians are regularly seen walking along O’Keefe Rd.
Others have called for a review of speed limits, claiming traffic has increased since the opening of the nearby bypass.

The latest incident follows another rollover near the Big Pineapple on Monday afternoon, with authorities reminding drivers to pay attention behind the wheel and stick to road rules.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
