A driver who narrowly escaped a flaming wreck thanks to the help of good Samaritans allegedly bit the leg of a police officer trying to breathalyse him in Sydney’s west.
Emergency services were called to Maugham Crescent in Wetherill Park about 11.20pm on Sunday after a Toyota SUV had crashed into a parked car and gone up in flames.

Police say a 35-year-old man, understood to be the driver of the vehicle, was pulled from the wreck by a group of bystanders.
“Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were informed that prior to the crash, the vehicle crashed into another car on Hassall St being driven by a 64-year-old man,” a police spokesman said.
“The vehicle has then driven on and had a crash with a 41-year-old man before finally crashing in Magham Crescent.”
