Princess Eugenie welcomes her third child, but one detail about the newborn is drawing particular attention
Princess Eugenie has announced the birth of her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank.
Eugenie, a niece of King Charles and the younger daughter of the former prince now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, already has two sons: August, who was born in February 2021, and Ernest, born in June 2023.
“Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie,” Eugenie said in a post on Instagram.
A separate post by the royal family’s official account on X added: “Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
The couple’s latest addition to their family was born on Monday at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, weighing 2.98kg.
Mother and baby are said to be doing well.
It is a rare occasion for a member of the UK royal family to be born overseas.
Eugenie and Brooksbank have a home and other connections in Portugal.
Eugenie and her husband will be taking time to decide on the name of their new daughter while they enjoy time as a family.
The baby girl will not be a Her Royal Highness.

She becomes 15th in line to the throne, with her great uncle the Duke of Edinburgh moving down to 16th place.
Eugenie married marketing executive Brooksbank at Windsor Castle in 2018.
The status of Eugenie, who is 12th in line to the throne, has been under scrutiny since the fall from grace of her father over his friendship with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
He has been stripped of all his titles, his mansion and any public involvement with the family.
Police arrested Mountbatten-Windsor in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
He denies wrongdoing and has said he regrets his friendship with Epstein.
While Eugenie and her sister Beatrice have been absent from most prominent public royal occasions since, they did appear with other senior royals at the wedding of their cousin Peter Phillips in June.
