The woman, only identified as a 69-year-old American citizen, plunged to her death shortly after 9am on Monday, according to the South China Morning Post.
The woman fell soon after going to the pool deck of the Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island, a boutique hotel.
She reportedly suffered from depression and had stopped taking her medication in March, a police source told the South China Morning Post.
The woman was in Hong Kong with her husband, who had left the hotel to go to a doctor’s appointment just one hour before her death.

A 74-year-old local woman was struck and taken to a nearby hospital where she remained in intensive care.
The impact caused several glass panels near the hotel lobby’s entrance to shatter, injuring six others, including the hospitalized woman’s 77-year-old sister.
The sisters’ 89-year-old friend, who is also an American tourist, sustained injuries as well.
Among the others who sustained injuries from the glass shards were a boy, 10 and his 40-year-old mother from mainland China.
A 41-year-old woman and her eight-year-old son were also injured.
Officials did not immediately release the identities of the woman who died or those who were injured.
The Hong Kong Police Force and Hotel Indigo did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
Hotel Indigo is a four-star hotel in Hong Kong that has 138 rooms and suites.
The hotel reaches 29 stories high and has a rooftop infinity pool.
The 69-year-old woman’s death came one day after a 16-year-old, identified only as Liu, fell to her death at a scenic spot in Huaying, China.
The teen was seen strapped into a harness as she eagerly waited to bungee swing across the Maliuyan Waterfall.
She reportedly was heard shouting multiple times that the rope was “not tight enough” before she was launched from the platform.
Just seconds later she fell over the drop and slipped down a few inches as the rope loosened.

One of the attendants on the platform reached toward Liu, but she had already begun falling toward the rocks below.
First responders rushed to the scene but the 16-year-old died on the way to the hospital.
