A young Adelaide man has been killed in a horrific workplace accident at a council‑owned property just outside of Adelaide.

Police have confirmed a 26‑year‑old man from the southern suburbs was found deceased at the Adelaide Hills Council worksite on Harrison Rd at Charleston, about 40km from Adelaide.

“Police are preparing a report for the Coroner following a workplace death at Charleston,” a SAPOL spokesperson said.

Adelaide Hills Council confirmed the fatal workplace incident, with SAPOL, CFS and SafeWork SA attending the scene about 6.20am.

Council says it is working with emergency services to provide information and support.

“Our thoughts are with the family, first responders and staff impacted,” a Adelaide Hills spokesperson said.

SafeWork SA confirmed investigators and inspectors attended the site.

“They are making further enquiries and assessing the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au.

The area is being examined under SafeWork SA’s standard investigative process.
