A missing tourist’s dismembered body was discovered at a landfill site, days after she went missing.

On Friday, May 8, the body of Katty Oosterlinck was found at the Zurita rubbish dump in the town of Puerto del Rosario on the island of Fuerteventura, according to Spanish and Dutch outlets The Spanish Eye, Het Laatste Nieuws and Nieuwsblad.

After the Belgian tourist’s friends and family lost touch with her on May 4, Spanish authorities launched a days-long search operation for the 56-year-old.

Officials eventually found Oosterlinck’s remains in the Zurita environmental complex, where investigators had already been searching for several days.

While authorities have not revealed Oosterlinck’s cause of death or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, officers from the Spanish Civil Guard’s Judicial Police unit in Las Palmas have since arrested her 22-year-old son on suspicion of murder, The Spanish Eye, Het Laatste Nieuws and Nieuwsblad reported.

Oosterlinck’s body has since been removed and transferred from the site. Professionals with the Institute of Legal Medicine of Las Palmas are set to carry out an autopsy, per the outlets.

A representative from the Spanish Civil Guard and the Puerto del Rosario Police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on May 9.
