Aiden Zeallor, 21, was not the intended target of the shots fired from a semiautomatic rifle, but two bullets pierced through his car’s windshield as he drove, fatally striking his right eye and under his right arm, Pennsylvania State Police said after the shooting.
Over a year and a half after Zeallor’s death, a man and a woman were arrested and face charges of murder, attempted murder and related crimes connected to the shooting.
Police arrested Alondra M Lopez, 28, and Joseph G Toledo-Gonzalez, 27, saying they are responsible for killing Zeallor.
Lopez is being held in the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center, while Toledo-Gonzalez is being held in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility. Both were denied bail, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Zeallor’s mother, Denise Donahue, said the arrests have given her some relief although nothing can bring back her son.
‘He was a loving boy that should still be here,’ Donahue told the Philadelphia Inquirer. ‘His life was stolen from him.’

His family described Zeallor as a fishing and outdoor enthusiast. He worked as a technician for his family’s HVAC company and was always surrounded by friends, his mother said.
In fact, Zeallor had been out dancing with a friend the evening he was shot. The two were on their way to Zeallor’s grandmother’s house, who Zeallor was taking care of at the time so she did not have to live alone.
Zeallor and his friend were driving in the northbound lane of I-95 around 2.30am, when bullets were suddenly fired from a semiautomatic rifle.
The shots were targeted at a nearby Acura but two bullets pierced through the windshield of Zeallor’s red Ford Mustang as he drove. He was fatally hit at his right eye and underneath his right arm.
Donahue, who had already experienced the death of Zeallor’s father in 2009, immediately rushed to the hospital on March 29, 2025.
But her son was declared brain-dead and died later that morning from the shots in his head and torso.

The driver of the Acura survived the shooting after only being struck in the leg.
Court documents offered few details about Lopez and Toledo-Gonzalez’s role in the shooting and do not describe the motive, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The documents do indicate that Lopez and Toledo-Gonzalez were both prohibited from possessing firearms at the time of the shooting.
Lopez and Toledo-Gonzalez are scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on September 14. Donahue and her family plan to attend every court proceeding.
They are also urging lawmakers to pass Aiden’s Law, which would require the installation of surveillance cameras on some Pennsylvania highways. The goal is to aid investigators in identifying suspects of violent crimes.
A memorial page states that Zeallor was an organ donor and as a result of his donations through the Gift of Life Donor Program, four recipients’ lives were saved.
‘We changed other people’s lives that day,’ Donahue said. ‘That makes me proud, as Aiden’s mom.’
