Jesy Nelson has touched hearts after sharing a previously unseen photograph of her baby twins holding hands as they watched television from their hospital bed.Chương trình truyền hình 'This Morning', Luân Đôn, Anh - 07/01/2026

The former Little Mix singer, 34, posted the tender image on Instagram as she continues to keep fans informed about her daughters’ ongoing battle with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) Type 1, the most severe form of the rare genetic muscle-wasting condition.

The photograph shows Ocean Jade and Story Monroe lying side by side in hospital, wrapped together beneath a blanket while receiving treatment. Both babies had feeding tubes in place, but it was a small, intimate detail that resonated most deeply with followers: the twins were gently holding hands.

Captioning the moment, Jesy wrote simply: “Watching TV together holding hands. MY heart.”

The image offered a poignant glimpse into the reality of the twins’ medical journey, which Jesy has documented with striking openness since revealing their diagnosis. Ocean and Story were born prematurely at 31 weeks in May last year and were diagnosed with SMA Type 1 shortly after birth. The condition affects muscle strength and movement and, without early intervention, can prevent children from ever walking.NINTCHDBPICT001055241252

Jesy previously spoke candidly about receiving the diagnosis, describing the moment as feeling “like someone had died.” The singer shares the twins with her former fiancé, Zion Foster, and together they secured a one-off gene therapy infusion designed to halt further muscle deterioration. While the treatment cannot reverse existing damage, it can significantly improve outcomes if administered early.

The singer has also revealed that it was her mother, Janice, who first raised concerns about the babies’  health, noticing reduced movement in their legs despite repeated assessments by health visitors and doctors.

Since then, Jesy has become a vocal advocate for change, calling for SMA screening to be included in standard newborn heel-prick tests to enable earlier diagnosis and treatment for affected babies.

Her latest update comes as she prepares to release the second season of her documentary series, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, on Amazon Prime Video. The upcoming episodes will focus heavily on her daughters’ health battle and the emotional impact it has had on her transition into motherhood.'This Morning' TV show, London, UK - 23 Jul 2025
