HORRIFYING DETAILS EMERGE..! – INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY AFTER MAN D-IES FOLLOWING REPORTED HOSTAGE SITUATION AT BOMADERRY NEAR NOWRA.
A man has died after residents were urged to steer clear of a reported ‘hostage situation’ unfolding in Bomaderry, on the NSW South Coast.
Emergency services swarmed Ritchie Street, and police warned the public to avoid the area, located 5km north of Nowra, as the incident unfolded.
While authorities released few official details, sources told Daily Mail Australia a standoff had been underway involving a man barricaded inside a property.
There were also early, unconfirmed reports of a possible hostage situation, although this has not been verified by NSW Police.
Sources said officers stormed the home and the man was removed from the property after a fire broke out. NSW Police have confirmed the man has since died.
Locals reported seeing a large number of police and emergency crews racing towards the scene, with one resident saying: ‘On our way back from Wollongong and there were so many cop cars and emergency vehicles speeding through Berry.’
Another added: ‘More police are still coming. We drove past and have seen another three undercover cars with sirens on, a Fire and Rescue truck and a paddy wagon boosting down the freeway towards Bomaderry.
‘We’re all the way up near Kiama and there are still more emergency vehicles heading south.’

NSW Police confirmed a critical incident investigation is underway.
‘About 1.15pm emergency services were called to a unit complex on Ritchie Street, Bomaderry, following reports of a concern for welfare,’ a spokesperson said.
‘Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and located a man barricaded inside a unit.’
The man allegedly started a fire inside the unit while a perimeter was established with the assistance of the tactical operations unit.
‘About 3.30pm, police gained entry into the unit and located a 57-year-old man.’
Fire and Rescue NSW then extinguished the fire inside.
The man was treated by paramedics at the property but could not be revived.
He has not been identified.

A crime scene has been established and a critical incident team from Wollongong Police District is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
‘The investigation will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC),’ police said.
A report will also be prepared for the the coroner.
