A crazed knifeman shouted “Allahu Akbar” and stabbed three men in front of schoolchildren at a Swiss train station Thursday morning — and authorities labeled the attacker’s rampage a “heinous act of terrorism.”

The madman, a 31-year-old Turkish-Swiss citizen, stabbed three men with a “bladed weapon” just after 8:30 a.m. at the Winterthur train station outside Zurich, the Zurich Cantonal Police said.

One witness told local outlet Blick that the man shouted “’Allahu Akbar’ five or six times in a very emotional and agitated manner” and three men, ages 28, 43 and 52, were injured in the rampage.

The 52-year-old underwent emergency surgery after being stabbed in the thigh, Marius Weyermann, a Zurich police commander, told reporters at a news conference.

Mario Fehr, head of Switzerland’s Department of Security, said the police response prevented something even more catastrophic from happening, Blick reported.

“Thanks to their swift intervention, something worse was prevented,” he said, labeling the stabbings a “heinous act of terrorism.”

The man carried out the rampage just three days after he was sent to a psychiatric unit in Winterthur.

Weyermann said the attacker was admitted to the hospital after making “incoherent statements.”

But he stressed there didn’t appear to be a link to violence, only delusion.

The man left the unit voluntarily on Tuesday before police readmitted him.

On Wednesday, a doctor ruled he posed no danger to himself or others, meaning he was free to leave.

But the attacker had been known to the police since 2015 for violating Switzerland’s ban on the Islamic State — a measure which has been in place for more than a decade.

He allegedly spread ISIS propaganda and received radical content, according to the Swiss public broadcaster SRF.

In 2024, he applied to renew his Swiss passport before emigrating to Turkey in August that year, according to Fehr.

The man returned to Switzerland in May 2026 after he “disappeared for two years,” the security chief said.

Authorities have not released any details on the type of blade used — but confirmed that it broke during the attack.

Cops refused to share any details relating to how the perp was apprehended, other than the fact it was within minutes.

Eyewitnesses said a group of schoolchildren had passed the knife-wielding man, as a teacher stepped in to protect the defenseless minors.

“He had a knife in his hand,” a witness told Blick. “Everyone was screaming and running away.”

Cops set up a large perimeter at the station as they carried out early investigations.
