The Brisbane Lions have deleted a video of Lachie and Jules Neale’s daughter crying after the “awkward” social media post was slammed.

The Brisbane Lions have deleted an “awkward” social media post after Jules Neale hit out at the football club for sharing footage of former partner Lachie Neale walking onto the MCG with daughter Piper.

Lachie was given an honour guard for his 300th game as he walked onto the MCG with teammates ahead of their upset loss to the Melbourne Demons last Sunday.

The two-time Brownlow Medal winner carried daughter Piper, 4, in his arms as the team prepared to run through the banner.

The scene was all too much for Piper to handle and she cried into her dad’s shoulder while being overawed by the spectacle.

Neale did his best to comfort her before he handed Piper over to a woman wearing Lions staff clothing.

Jules and son Freddie, 1, did not make the trip to Melbourne for the occasion — staying in Perth where Jules has attempted to build a new life following the couple’s separation at the end of 2025.

The football club also shared a video of Piper holding a Brisbane Lions microphone while speaking to her dad on the MCG boundary the day before his milestone game.

Lachie asked Piper: “Are you excited to run onto the ground tomorrow. Are you?”

She responded with an honest shake of her head before she was wrapped up in a hug.

The clip was then edited by Lions staff to cross to footage of Piper in tears as Neale carried her onto the ground last week.

The club captioned the post “Our shy queen” with a heart hands emoji.

The final clip of the Lions’ post featured audio from the song “Bae I changed 4 You” by CR2 RUNITUP. This song has been used in a popular Instagram trend for Instagram users to show funny transformations.

On Saturday night, Jules did not hold back in her assessment of the content.

“She’s not shy,” Jules posted.

“She’s scared and it’s not funny.”

Lions delete ‘awkward’ post

On Sunday, the post had been taken down from the Brisbane Lions’ social media channels following the backlash.

“It was meant to be a feel good footy moment but it’s erupted into a social media storm,” 7News Brisbane’s Georgie Chumbley said on Sunrise on Monday.

“It’s really raised some questions about these family moments that the footy (clubs) try to capture and the content that’s posted afterwards.

“It was meant to be a milestone celebration but it certainly ended in a bit of an awkward PR moment for the Brisbane Lions.”

Lachie Neale had a day out in Brisbane’s 52-point win over Adelaide at the Gabba on Sunday, racking up 42 disposals to show he is still at the top of his game.

The two-time Brownlow Medallist had a touching moment in the Lions’ rooms post-game, hugging his daughter on the floor with a massive smile on his face after doing a radio interview.

Triple M shared a clip of the moment with the caption: “Post-game interview mode to dad mode.”

The football club has continued to post photos of the two-time premiership star across its social media channels despite his off-season marriage collapse.

Speaking ahead of his milestone 300th AFL game, Neale opened up on how he has coped since news of his marriage breakdown emerged in December.

Despite Jules posting on Instagram she had been “betrayed in the most unimaginable way”, the pair are on good enough terms that the footballer has been making regular trips to Perth to see her and their children.

Jules moved to Perth with their children after it was alleged the former Fremantle star had an affair with Tess Crosley, who had previously been one of Jules’ closest friends.

Neale remains under contract with the Lions until the end of the 2026 season and remained in Brisbane when the rest of the family moved to Western Australia to be closer to Jules’ family.

Neale moved into an apartment and the couple sold their Brisbane house in February.

Lions coach Chris Fagan said in January the club will not stand in Neale’s way should he choose to move to Perth to play for West Coast or Fremantle for the 2027 AFL season.

According to The Age, Neale won’t be making a decision until August.

Jules Meanwhile, last week shared emotional news that a therapy session left her “crying for an hour straight”.

The popular hair stylist on Tuesday posted a video to Instagram to share her experience with hypnotherapy.

“Don’t mind my appearance I’ve just been like crying for an hour straight,’’ Jules she said in a video, which she filmed sitting in the front seat of a car.

“I did hypnotherapy at Stella Hypnotherapy with Joey and it was incredible.

“I just wanted to share it because I thought if anyone is dealing with anything emotionally or any kind of trauma or anything, that you go to normal or traditional talk therapy for, try hypnotherapy as well.

“I feel like that did a lot more for me in one session than talk therapy has before. It kind of feels a little bit deeper I suppose and it was really incredible. I just wanted to share that. Sending love.”
