A HEARTBROKEN FAMILY IS LEFT TO PICK UP THE PIECES..! – A YOUNG FATHER HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS THE VICTIM OF THE TRAGIC MOORA CRASH, LEAVING BEHIND A DEVASTATED PARTNER AND THEIR LITTLE SON.
Tributes and generous donations are flowing for a young Wheatbelt family suddenly facing life without a treasured partner and dad.
Raniera Huriwaka, 31, was killed on July 8 after his grey Toyota Fortuner station wagon left the road and crashed while travelling east along Midlands Road in Moora, about 170km north of Perth, near Balarong Road about 6.15pm.
Loved ones are now rallying around his partner, Abbey Waters, a hockey coach and A grade netballer, and their beautiful 10-month-old daughter, Delilah, to raise money in the wake of his passing.
A GoFundMe page established on Friday by a teammate explained how Ms Waters had “been faced with the unimaginable heartbreak of losing her partner while also navigating life as a sole parent to their precious little girl”.
“As Abbey grieves this enormous loss, the last thing she should have to worry about is the financial burden that comes with such a heartbreaking tragedy,” the fundraiser read.
“We hope to help ease some of that pressure, allowing her the time and space to focus on herself and Delilah during the difficult months ahead.”
Donations would contribute to supporting the grieving mum and baby with living expenses and stability as they grapple with their unimaginable loss and “begin to rebuild their lives”.
“If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page with your family, friends, and community would mean the world. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time. Every contribution and message of love reminds Abbey and Delilah that they are not alone,” the page reads.
As of 2pm Monday, the fundraiser had raised about $24,000 towards its $35,000 goal.
Mr Huriwaka was alone in the car at the time of the crash.
WA Police are investigating the lead-up and have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
