Fans have mocked Meghan Markle for sharing a “basic” recipe for “boiled water” as she tries to promote her new As Ever holiday collection. One of her new items is a Spiced Cider Mulling Spice Kit from her lifestyle brand and Meghan posted a video to show how to create a “really cosy warm beverage that everyone can enjoy”.

Fans were confused by the recipe and accused the Duchess of Sussex of showing watchers how to make a pot of “mulled water”. In the video, Meghan adds a pouch of her spice kit to hot water in a pan. She then drops in cinnamon sticks, lemon and a teaspoon of her brand’s honey into glasses.

In a post on X, one user said: “If I’m not mistaken, Meghan Markle just made mulled water? Wouldn’t you add the spices to apple cider? Or wine? Not WATER?”

Another user wrote: “Meghan Markle is now trying to show us how to make a hot toddy but really it’s just tea flavoured water boiling on the stove…. how revolutionary.”

Another said: “Looks like she was making a spicy tea because she has no idea of what she is really doing. Madame Fake-It-Till-You-Make-It-Montecito.”

As part of the collection released last week, Meghan’s brand, As Ever, included a hot toddy and mulled cider spice kit. The mulling spice kit contains cinnamon, lemongrass, lemon peel and organic ginger root.

The description reads: “Ladled in a mug or poured in a punch glass with your favorite spirit, our take on the classic hot toddy adds a sip of nostalgia to any gathering. The warm, inviting aroma alone makes this blend a holiday entertaining essential: Slowly simmer a batch on the stove and let the aromatic cinnamon, lemongrass, citrus peel, and ginger root fill your kitchen—an easy way to gather guests and inspire conversation.

“Or, enjoy Meghan’s favorite way: in good company with the ones you love, one mug at a time.”

The caption to Meghan’s video is titled, “Easy like a Sunday morning”. Meghan is dressed in an all-white ensemble with her hair tied back in a simple ponytail as she explains the method of making the easy drinks.

This is Meghan’s first-ever Holiday Collection, reportedly inspired by “the spirit of gifting and gatherings”. The As Ever Holiday Collection includes California-harvested honey, small-batch fruit spreads, mulling spice kits, a limited-edition sparkling wine from Napa Valley, and candles.
