Martyn Tann, 24, was last seen near Mullaloo Beach, in Perth’s north, when he failed to return to his uncle’s home in April 2013.
Mr Tann’s backpack and belongings were found on the beach, and people reported seeing him in the water before he went missing.

An inquest into his death was held in the Western Australia Coroner’s Court on Monday.
Acting state coroner Sarah Linton told the court she was satisfied Mr Tann died on that day and there was a strong possibility he was killed by a shark.
Police told the court witnesses reported seeing Mr Tann swimming towards a buoy several hundred metres off the beach and others had seen dolphins swimming in the water.

Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions marine biologist Rory McAuley gave evidence that increased tiger shark activity occurred through autumn and winter months.
Further DNA tests will be conducted to identify if a dreadlock found on the beach after Mr Tann’s disappearance belongs to him.
The coroner will officially release her findings at a later date.
