Police have confirmed they’re not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

“He seemed calm as they were putting him into the back of a police car.
“This place is full of young professionals. The flats are very plush. Some studios but mostly one or two bedroom. There are lots of families here too.”
Another resident of the block of flats said: “Everyone is in shock. When it happens on your doorstep, you don’t know how to react. I feel so sorry for the little girl.
“I don’t know the family or what happened, but I did see and hear lots of police last night when I came back from work.”
Local mum Susan Williamson, 31, left flowers at the scene and said: “It’s just so horribly sad.
“I’m a mum and I just wanted to come down here to pay my respects.
“Everyone is in a state of shock about what has happened. This is a nice area with good people. Things like this don’t usually happen in Chertsey.”
In 2023, it was reported there were plans to house asylum seeker families in the block.
However, the plans were scrapped a year later following a petition from local residents.
The steward of Chertsey Social Club, which is on the opposite side of the road from the flats, Kevin Quirk, said: “I came outside at around 6pm and there were police cars and ambulances everywhere. They had taped off the area.
“It was very unusual to see so many police in one place. They even had an air ambulance land nearby, but I don’t think it was used.
“It’s very unusual to see police cars in this area. It’s so quiet. It’s a really safe community, so when you see that many police cars it does shock you.
“There are lots of families in that block. It used to be offices but was converted a few years back.
“At one time they were going to house people from overseas, immigrants, in these flats, but the residents kicked off so much they abandoned that idea.”
The man was found at the address suffering from serious injuries and was arrested on suspicion of murder.
There is no longer a police presence outside the building.
A message left at the scene read: “RIP beautiful girl. Too good for this earth. May you rest in paradise.”
