Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie to take on ‘bigger role’ as change looms

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are tipped to take bigger roles in the future within the Royal Family, an expert has claimed. Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie are beloved members of the Royal Family, who have seen their popularity skyrocket in recent years.

Sophie alone has been dubbed the Firm’s “secret weapon” many times, with her husband regularly sparking delight with his every appearance and his devotion to the crown. The couple first met in 1993 but tied the knot in a humble ceremony at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on June 19, 1999. The duchess sparked a fan frenzy when she stepped out in a beautiful silk organza Samantha Shaw wedding gown and her stunning Anthemion Tiara, which is said to be worth more than £1.2million.

Now, following Sophie’s recent appearance in Hemel Hempstead after becoming the new Royal patron of the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team, an expert has given their insights into what the future holds for the royal couple.

Body language expert Darren Stanton said on behalf of Betfair Casino: “[Sophie] and Edward will be used more and more as the years go on.

“And looking at this, the Royal Family is in really good hands. Sophie in particular seems as though she would take to a more prominent role like a duck to water.”

Sophie has previously spoken about her two-word nickname and how she feels about it.
She told the Mirror, “I like to fly under the radar. It’s all very well being a secret weapon, but if no one knows, maybe it’s too secret.”

She added: “I suppose I should take it as a backhanded compliment.

“I don’t see myself in a frontline position per se, that said, admittedly, there are fewer working members of the family these days so I suppose more and more I’m becoming less secretive.

“I just wonder what they are going to describe me as next!”
