Child trapped in door and dragged by bus
A young boy has been dragged several metres after having his foot trapped in the door of a Melbourne bus.
The shocking footage has emerged of the incident which unfolded in St Kilda about 5pm on June 5.
It shows the boy being carried off the back of the bus by a man, believed to be his father, only for the doors to shut before he had fully exited.
The door slammed shut on the boy’s foot, trapping him to the bus which then continued along its route.
Luckily, the man held the boy up and kept him from slamming into the ground as the bus came to a screeching halt several metres later.
The managing director of bus company Kinetic, Matthew Campbell, described it as a “distressing incident”.
“We are sincerely sorry to the child and their family,” Campbell said in a statement.
“What occurred fell short of the standards we expect and we take full responsibility.”
7NEWS understands the bus driver was let go by Kinetic following an investigation into the incident.
