GUN IN THE GARDEN

Henry Nowak’s ‘weapons obsessed’ killer filmed brandishing gun in shocking video three years before he murdered teen

MURDERER Vickrum Digwa was seen brandishing a gun in his back garden — three years before he killed teen student Henry Nowak.

A neighbour filmed two men with air weapons — with one firing a rifle while the other was holding a pistol.

It was recorded in October 2022 in Southampton, close to where stabbed 18-year-old Henry was arrested as he died in December last year.

Digwa, who falsely accused Henry of a racist attack, was jailed for 21 years on Monday. At his trial he was said to have a “weapons obsession”.

In the video, one man — in a blue turban similar to the one in Digwa’s police mugshot — rests a large air pistol on his shoulder as he gazes at his mobile phone.

Another man fires an airgun — with three “snaps” heard.

The ex-neighbour who recorded the 30-second clip said: “We could hear gunshots and they were really loud. When we went to look, we saw them shooting guns at a wooden board.”

She said she reported the family to police — but says she was told they could not do anything.

Hampshire Police were unable to find a report of the incident but did discover an air pistol at the property where Digwa lived with his family in a search following Henry’s murder.

Air pistols and rifles can be legal in the UK if they are not powerful.

But airguns are classed as firearms — needing a certificate — if they are “lethal barrelled”, meaning their muzzle energy is greater than one joule.

Ex-Met DCI Mick Neville said police should have visited Digwa’s home in 2022 as “you cannot tell if a firearm is legal without examining it”.

Digwa, his brother Gurpreet, 27, and his father Moga Singha, 52, have since appeared in court charged with weapons offences.

All are dated December 4, 2025, the day after Henry’s murder.

The case was adjourned until July 9.
