HE WAS JUST WAITING NEARBY..! – SHOCKING MOMENT SUSPECTED DRUNK DRIVER PLOUGHS INTO A BUS STOP AT LANE COVE, SENDING DEBRIS FLYING INTO A TEENAGER.

A teenager waiting nearby was hit by flying debris.

Authorities say it was lucky no one was killed during a suspected drunken car crash on a busy Sydney road when the vehicle ploughed through a median strip and speared into a bus stop, leaving a teen with serious leg injuries.

But what shocked onlookers even more was when the driver stumbled out of the wreck and allegedly ran away.

Emergency services were called to Longueville Rd at Lane Cove about 12.30pm on Saturday after reports a vehicle had crossed a median strip and smashed into the bus stop.

A teenager waiting near the bus stop was hit by flying debris, leaving serious leg injuries. He was taken to hospital.

“He was actually bleeding out, quite a bit … he managed to move out in time before the car actually came,” a witness said.

Footage captured the driver rummaging for her phone after the crash before allegedly fleeing the scene.

“She reeked of alcohol. She came out, she was running left and right frantically, she went back in to grab her phone then ran down that street,” a witness claimed.

An Uber Eats driver attempted to help the woman.

“She went back to her car to get something, came out, and then she just gave me an elbow and said something in the lines of ‘you wanna fight’,” a witness said.

Dashcam footage captured the car allegedly swerving in and out of traffic moments before the crash, with its bumper already hanging off.

“The white Audi, very fast, she tried to stop then she lost control so she hit the barrier,” a witness said.

“I went to her to help her and she was weird, she was a little bit aggressive She told me ‘I’m ok, I‘m ok’.”

Police arrested a 29-year-old woman a short distance away sitting outside Lane Cove Aquatic Centre.

The driver was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where police say she will undergo a mental health assessment, as well as routine drug and alcohol tests.

She will be intverviewed by officers when her condition improves.
