A mother-of-five has been left in an induced coma after she was struck by a car while riding an e-scooter.

Tania Kerr was hit while turning from Scott St onto Swan St in Melton, Melbourne’s west, about 12.20am on Sunday.

The car, a small white sedan, did not stop, leaving the 41-year-old behind with serious head injuries.

Residents nearby raced to help Kerr who was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and placed into an induced coma.

It’s believed the car may have been a Toyota Camry and possibly was a ride share.

Police are appealing for help from the public to catch the driver.

“That behaviour’s just deplorable,” Victoria Police Sergeant Emile Caggiati said.

“Once you’ve realised that you’ve done the wrong thing, just make contact with police and we’ll work through it.”
