Woman, 21, dies at scene of horror two-car crash in Hallett Cove

South Australia’s road toll has claimed another young life after a horror crash in Adelaide’s south left a 21-year-old woman dead and another passenger in a critical condition. Video: 9NEWS

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Barramundi Drive and Lonsdale Rd after receiving reports of a crash involving a Nissan station wagon and Subaru sedan about 10pm.

The driver of the Nissan, a 21-year-old woman from Morphett Vale was treated for non-life threatening injuries while her 20-year-old female passenger was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Tragically, another passenger in the Nissan – a 21-year-old woman from Hallett Cove – died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Subaru driver, a 27-year-old man from Aberfoyle Park, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
It was a quiet morning on Barramundi Dr in the hours that followed as residents woke to the startling news.

There were few traces of the carnage caused by the incident on Wednesday morning.

It’s understood the car was split in half.

One resident on Caroline Close, who wished to remain anonymous, described hearing a loud crash late last night.

“We didn’t see anything. All we heard was a loud bang,” the resident said.

Road closures were in place while Major Crash Investigators examined the scene but roads have since reopened.

The young woman’s death is the 73rd life lost on South Australian roads this year.
